Libbie In 2 weeks, DH's parents are coming to visit. His dad is getting a hotel to stay at during the week (for business). His mom is coming up on Fri. DH asked me Mature women in New Rochelle New York if it was okay for them to stay with us and I said "okay." We no longer have a guest room, though (it's a -'s room!) since I'm 6 months pregnant. They'll have to sleep on an air mattress in our living room. He also told me that they asked if they could bring their dog up and I said "I don't think it's a good idea. We have cats, we've always told them it's not a good idea to bring their dog and they have respected our wishes in the past". I asked him his opinion about it and he said "I don't know. Right now i'm on it. I just wish they had someone who could watch their dog for them so it's not an issue. I'll talk to them." The discussion was then dropped. Last night he told me that his mother not be coming up on Fri now. She'll be driving up on Sat leaving morning. Because it's for such a short period of time she wants to know if she can bring her dog up. He told her he would talk about it with me. I still told him "No. I don't want to have to worry about a dog peeing in our home, tearing anything up or harassing our cats." I said that we'd just be worrying about the dog the whole time versus spending time with his parents. He told me that he thinks we should allow their dog but to have it either crated in a back bedroom or on a leash the entire time. I still say "no". He thinks that because it'll only be for a short period and by crating the dog, he's making concessions for both sides. I told him that I do not want the dog in our house at ALL why change the house rules now? He said that if it doesn't work then we can at least TELL them we tried but the dog doesn't work in our house it's not allowed up here again. We've told his mother in the past that she can't bring the dog and she has cancelled at the last minute, using that as an excuse. DH said to me last night "If we NEVER allow them to bring their dog up here then they'll visit us even less." He thinks that I am being a "-" and "using my pregnancy" as an excuse to bully him and get my way. I feel like I'm being controlled/bullied in my own home and that he is being more considerate of their wishes instead of mine. Opinions?
